CPD Submission Procedure

There are 2 ways to submit your CPD activities to the PIRB:

  1. Online (via the PIRB Website)
    Complete the online form on the website. This form is automatically sent to the CPD Department to capture your credits on your profile. Visit this link to submit activities.
  2. Print and complete the Activity Form on the PIRB Website – scan and email to cpd@host-h.net to submit CPD activities.

Henry Bonthuys – Eastern Cape

Q: What are you passionate about (other than plumbing)?  
A: Training, Engineering, Electrical, Structural inspections.
Q: How many years have you been part of the plumbing industry?
A: 44 years.
Q: What is the most valuable professional advice you have ever been given?
A: Always work according to regulations in all trades.
Q: What has been the highlight of your career?
A: Success in different areas.
Q: Do you have a favourite plumbing quote/advice to impart?
A: Focus on Quality Assurance.


Lorraine Mooi – Eastern Cape
Q: What are you passionate about (other than plumbing)?
A: I love reading everything and anything from fiction to non-fiction. My favourite book is The Richest Man in Babylon.
Q: How many years have you been part of the plumbing industry?
A: 10 years.
Q: What is the most valuable professional advice you have ever been given?
A: Keep improving yourself and utilize whatever opportunities that come your way.
Q: What has been the highlight of your career?
Winning the IOPSA Industry Lady of the Year 2018. It has its own special place on the shelf.
Q: Do you have a favourite plumbing quote/advice to impart?
A: Plumbing is one of the most essential fields. Water is life and everyone in the plumbing industry has an important role to play. Always be proud of that.


Richard Bailie – Western Cape

Q: What are you passionate about (other than plumbing)?
A: I’m a hobbyist mountain biker, I build ship models when I can. I love spending quality time with my friends & family in our beautiful city and its array of attractions.
Q: How many years have you been part of the plumbing industry?

A: Since 1991 (about 28 years).
Q: What is the most valuable professional advice you have ever been given?
A: You know you are starting to learn something when you realize you know nothing.
Q: What has been the highlight of your career?
A: There are two:  When I successfully plumbed the Sante Wellness Centre & Spa, and becoming a PIRB auditor.
Q: Do you have a favourite plumbing quote/advice to impart?
A: Learn, learn and learn some more!!


Sello Mokawane – Gauteng

Q: What are you passionate about (other than plumbing)?
A: Petrol Station Owner.
Q: How many years have you been part of the plumbing industry?
A: 15 years.
Q: What is the most valuable professional advice you have ever been given?

A: Meeting the requirements and be humble.
Q: What has been the highlight of your career?

A: Being the Junior Vice President of the MBA North.
Q: Do you have a favourite plumbing quote/advice to impart?
A: My greatest education comes from the school of hard knocks, failing, and trying again is what has best qualified me to in the position I am today.


Adriaan Myburgh – Eastern Cape

Q: What are you passionate about (other than plumbing)?
A: Life! Fishing, golf, family, friends, anything that keeps the body and the mind occupied.
Q: How many years have you been part of the plumbing industry?
A: Started in 1988 – that gives me 32 years and counting.
Q: What is the most valuable professional advice you have ever been given?
A: Respect for others, you can resolve anything with anyone, after that!
Q: What has been the highlight of your career?
A: I qualified in 1991, that was special, I joined the Local Authority as an Inspector in 1999 and was promoted in 2008 to Senior Plumbing and Drainage Inspector for NMBM to oversee the plumbing work done in our Metro. I have been blessed with so many!
Q: Do you have a favourite plumbing quote/advice to impart?
A: Whether it be material – or workmanship related, never take advice from someone who is not going to have to deal with the consequences of that advice given.


Daniel Pentasaib – KwaZulu-Natal

Q: What are you passionate about (other than plumbing)?
A: Travelling to experience other cultures.
Q: How many years have you been part of the plumbing industry?
A: 33 years of experience in the building environment.
Q: What is the most valuable professional advice you have ever been given?
A: Enjoy whatever you do and do it like you are doing it for yourself and it will certainly turn out perfect and flawless.
Q: What has been the highlight of your career?
A: Peer learning and tutorials with municipalities, and, managing a staff compliment of 150.
Q: Do you have a favourite plumbing quote/advice to impart?
A; The most menial task can turn out to be perfect and appreciative, only if you put your mind to it and enjoy it fully.

 

Gary Chandler – Gauteng

Q: What are you passionate about (other than plumbing)?
A: I enjoy a round of golf, although I’m not very good, but working at it…. Fast cars, motor sports and motor bikes.
Q: How many years have you been part of the plumbing industry?
A: Started as a picker at Saffer & Company in 1991, so 27 years in the plumbing game now.
Q: What is the most valuable professional advice you have ever been given?
A: A business succeeds not because it is a big brand with a big audience, it succeeds because there are people in it who eat it, dream it and sleep it every day of their lives. Be passionate about everything you do.
Q: What has been the highlight of your career?
A: Being promoted to Commercial Director of Plumblink.
Q: Do you have a favourite plumbing quote/advice to impart?
A: If you don’t do it right, don’t do it!!

 

Malcolm Harris – Gauteng

Q: What are you passionate about (other than plumbing)?
A: I enjoy golf the bush and bird watching.
Q: How many years have you been part of the plumbing industry?
A: 25 years – I started my apprenticeship in 1993.
Q: What is the most valuable professional advice you have ever been given?
A: Treat everybody as you would want to be treated.
Q: What has been the highlight of your career?
A: Every time I have a solution to help a plumber solve his problem.
Q: Do you have a favourite plumbing quote/advice to impart?
A: Best advice is don’t judge too quickly – the annoying customer is sometimes testing you for greater things.

 

Lea Smith – Gauteng

Q: What are you passionate about (other than plumbing)?
A: Making a difference and adding value to whatever you do.
Q: How many years have you been part of the plumbing industry?
A: As my father is a plumber, one can say all my life, while I worked during school holidays here and there, however formally working on the tools and in the trenches, I would say then for the past 25 years.
Q: What is the most valuable professional advice you have ever been given?
A: Whatever you do, do it to the best of your ability and that wealth is not measured in Rand’s and Cents.
Q: What has been the highlight of your career?
A: It would be host of things but more importantly that one person can really make a difference if they have the right attitude and do things for the right reason.
Q: Do you have a favourite plumbing quote/advice to impart?
A: This is one of many favourite quotes said by Lucius Annaeus Seneca; “If a man does not know what port he is steering for, no wind is favorable to him.”

 

Susan Walls – Gauteng

Q: What are you passionate about (other than plumbing)?
A: I am passionate about the insurance industry and sharing the knowledge which I have acquired of the 35 years which I have been part of the industry. I am also passionate about mentoring and educating new entrants into the industry.
Q: How many years have you been part of the plumbing industry?
A: I have been in the insurance industry for 35 years!
Q: What is the most valuable professional advice you have ever been given?
A: Don’t ever compromise on your integrity.
Q: What has been the highlight of your career?
A: Obtaining my B Com degree at the age of 52.
Q: Do you have a favourite plumbing quote/advice to impart?
A: I’ll leave this one for the plumbers to answer ?


Steve Brown – KwaZulu-Natal

Q: What are you passionate about (other than plumbing)?
A: Forging knives, family time and when I get a chance a surf and walking my dogs on the beach.
Q: How many years have you been part of the plumbing industry?
A: 42 years in the industry.
Q: What is the most valuable professional advice you have ever been given?
A:  Lead by example and don’t ask someone to do something you haven’t and respect is earned.
Q: What has been the highlight of your career?
A: Having been in the industry for so many years there are many highlights. Being elected IOPSA president. Being elected to the world plumbing council. The one that stands out the most is how our industry through both IOPSA and the PIRB have impacted on our industry and knowing I have made a difference.
Q: Do you have a favourite plumbing quote/advice to impart?
Attitude is altitude, have a ‘can do’ rather than a ‘can’t’ attitude and make it happen, nothing is impossible!

 

Martin Coetzee – Gauteng
How many years have you been part of the plumbing industry?
A: 46 years in the construction industry and 42 in the plumbing industry.
Q: What is the most valuable professional advice you have ever been given?
A: Martin says you shouldn’t take life too seriously.
Q: What has been the highlight of your career?
A: Service to the Institute award in 2015 by IOPSA. Involved with the SABS since 1994 and started working at Cobra in 1983. Currently sits on 36 Committees and Working Groups. Awarded the SABS Service accolade in 2014.
Q: Do you have a favourite plumbing quote/advice to impart? 
A: “I’m not clever, I’ve just been around for a very long time,” Martin Coetzee.
